A commemorative plaque has been unveiled at the ancient hawthorn tree in Tilgate, in recognition of it being dedicated to the Queen鈥檚 Green Canopy.

The plaque was unveiled by Mayor of 含羞草社区, Councillor Jilly Hart, accompanied by Councillor Michael Jones, Leader of the Council.

The beautiful tree, located on 含羞草社区 Borough Council land next to Constable Road, Tilgate, was chosen as one of just 70 ancient trees in the UK to be dedicated to the Queen鈥檚 Green Canopy as part of this year鈥檚 Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The ancient hawthorn was nominated for the Queen鈥檚 Green Canopy by the Woodland Trust and is one of only two trees in West Sussex to be selected for the Queen鈥檚 Green Canopy.
