Partnership has installed its recently purchased mobile CCTV and ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) camera in Church Walk,
Church Walk is the first deployment of the camera. The dogleg in the footpath means that you can鈥檛 see from one end to the other. The presence of the camera adds to the temporary additional lighting in Church Walk and is aimed at deterring crime and anti-social behaviour in that area.
The camera was purchased by the Safer Partnership as a partner resource for tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in hotspot locations. Partnership Executive Board agreed where the camera would be located in conjunction with key partner agencies including Sussex Police and the council鈥檚 Community Wardens and the Nuisance and Anti-Social Behaviour Team.
Partnership Executive Board chose this location as the first installation of this mobile camera. It is hoped that it will help deter crime and anti-social behaviour taking place in a part of the town that is traditionally poorly lit.
